Before fitting
Check the exact model and size with your healthcare professional before fitting. Keep the product and its supplied fasteners ready. The required joint position and wearing schedule are individual treatment decisions.
The rib splint is fitted by a healthcare professional after the injury has been located medically. This guide explains the procedure so the patient knows what to expect.
Fitting sequence
- The professional locates the injury and prepares hair-free, degreased skin. The patient is preferably seated or standing in an upright position.
- Shape the splint on the uninjured side of the chest. Align the arrow-marked surface with the direction of the ribs.
- Remove the arrow-marked paper cover and apply the splint across the injured area while the patient exhales.
- While the patient inhales, remove the paper cover beneath the waterproof foil and press its adhesive edges to the skin.
- Remove the outer transparent protective film last, using its flap. The order matters: leaving this outer layer in place prevents the final breathable arrangement shown in the video.
Check the fit
The professional checks that the splint bridges the injured area and that the protective layers were removed in the correct sequence. The patient follows the individual care and review instructions.
