Saddle joint orthosis for daytime use
This Chrisofix® orthosis supports the thumb base and saddle joints during the day. It can be selected for thumb-base osteoarthritis and for immobilisation after certain injuries, as part of an individual treatment plan.

Lightweight layered construction
A corrugated, perforated aluminium core and soft contact layers form the structure. Fitting does not require heat or water.
Indications
A treating healthcare professional may select this orthosis as part of care for the following applications:
- Daytime splinting for osteoarthritis of the thumb saddle joint, also called rhizarthrosis.
- Immobilisation of the thumb metacarpal or CMC joint after injuries and sprains.
- Rehabilitation after fractures and supplementary immobilisation following surgery for thumb metacarpal fractures, including Bennett, Rolando and Winterstein fractures.
How it works
By supporting the MCP and CMC joints, the orthosis limits movements that are undesirable within the treatment plan. The malleable shell allows fitting adjustments, while the straps hold the orthosis on the hand.
Fitting and use
Fit: adapt the pre-shaped orthosis to the hand with gentle pressure. Substantial reshaping is a healthcare professional’s task.
Fasten: adjust the thumb section and straps to provide support without excessive tightness.
Check: monitor the fit and skin during use. Keep repeated bending of the shell to the necessary minimum.

Measure palm width and select the correct hand. Ask a healthcare professional to check the measurement and fit. The day and night models have different size ranges, so check each chart separately.

Cleaning and reuse
Wash at 30 °C and allow to air dry. Store at room temperature. Reuse means repeated use by the same patient; washability does not mean that the product can be sterilised. Avoid damage, contamination and soaking during wear.
Materials
Polyethylene (PE) foam, polyamide (PA) velour, cotton, corrugated and perforated aluminium (EN AW-1050A).
Important limitations
Use on clean, intact skin or after appropriate wound care. Do not overtighten, use a broken or damaged orthosis, or cut the product. It is not suitable for heavy physical work. Combine it with another support on the same limb only if instructed by a doctor. A healthcare professional determines the wearing schedule and treatment.
Daytime and night-time models
The daytime model is REF 14/15, with three sizes. The night-time model is REF 37/38 with lining and six sizes. Both use palm width, but the size labels and ranges differ. A healthcare professional can advise which model suits your treatment.

“Daytime use” describes the intended application, not a fixed number of hours for every patient. Follow the schedule determined by your treating healthcare professional.
Can I use the same size for the night-time model?

Yes, at 30 °C, followed by air drying. It is intended for repeated use by one patient.
