For daytime use<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\"Chrisofix<\/p>\n

The day use version of the saddle joint orthosis serves to fixate the base joint of the thumb (MCP) and the saddle joint (CMC). It may also be used to good effect in cases of saddle joint arthritis for daytime splinting and also for fixation of the metacarpal of the thumb or the saddle joint following injury, sprains or even in the rehabilitation phase following fractures.<\/p>\n

It may also be utilized as complementary treatment to surgery performed on fractures of the thumb metacarpal (Benett, Rolando, Winterstein fractures).<\/p>\n

Application and adjusting<\/strong><\/h5>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The ready to adjust Chrisofix<\/span>\u00ae<\/span> orthoses have to be adjusted directly on the injured\/diseased body part. The <\/span>rough adjustment (bending) has to be performed on a non-injured limb of similar size. Fine adjustments, <\/span>readjustments (e.g. after soft tissue swelling is reduced) can be made without removing the orthosis. <\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Place the hand into the preshaped orthosis.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Shape the orthosis to the hand with gentle pressure, and close the ring around the thumb.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Fasten the bandages on the back of hand and the wrist. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    To remove the orthosis, it is not necessary to open the strap on the thumb and back of the hand; the hand <\/span>can simply be pulled out from and later shifted back into the fixation. Frequent bending and stretching of the <\/span>orthosis can damage its stability; these must be restricted to the necessary minimum.<\/span><\/p>\n
