The patient is preferably seated or standing in an upright position.<\/li>\n<li>Shape the splint on the uninjured side of the chest. Align the arrow-marked surface with the direction of the ribs.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the arrow-marked paper cover and apply the splint across the injured area while the patient exhales.<\/li>\n<li>While the patient inhales, remove the paper cover beneath the waterproof foil and press its adhesive edges to the skin.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the outer transparent protective film last, using its flap.
